Cape Kaliakra is a tourist attraction in Bulgaria that you should not miss. Cape Kaliakra is a unique monument of nature that should not be missed. The entrance fee is 3 leva/person.
The place where my heart stopped for a second....KALIAKRA! I felt the beauty and special energy of Cape Kaliakra to the fullest. I found here a museum set up in a cave, where you can admire various archaeological exhibits discovered during the excavations, a Bulgarian military unit, a restaurant, with a view that leaves you breathless.
The "tongue" of land from KALIAKRA preserves the ruins of the old fortress, of a church built in the 14th century, fountains or Roman baths, and at the end of the peninsula you can also admire a small stone chapel dedicated to Saint Nicholas.

The fortress was built since ancient times (Tirisis - IV century) on the land of Cape Kaliakra, it was considered to be the second most important fortress after Tomis, and a whole town had been built around it. Later, towards the end of the 6th century, the fortress will be called Accra Castellium and will also have the role of a fortress, used strategically against the barbarian tribes.
Since the 12th century, Kaliakra has been the capital of the Bulgarian Dobrogea, also hosting several church buildings. It ended up being occupied again by the Ottoman forces at the beginning of the 1400s, and almost 400 years later, Kaliakra witnessed one of the biggest naval battles that ever took place on the Black Sea, during the Russo-Turkish war.
Since 1941, Cape Kaliakra has been declared a protected area, sheltering numerous species of birds and hosting, in the past, even a colony of seals.
