February 5th, 2008, IT WAS SUPER TUESDAY!!! People were catching the television as soon as they could to catch up with the massive amount of news regarding the primary elections. People were going out, voting for their candidates, going home, and waking up the next morning to see the results. However, this Super Tuesday would be remembered many years later, not for what happened at the polls, but for what happened just outside of them.

One of the most anomalous, and unusual tornado events that has ever happened in the United States. 87 Tornadoes, over the span of 15 hours, touching down across the southern United States. From Arkansas, to Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Alabama, numerous significant to violent tornadoes touched down from the late-afternoon hours of the 5th, through the early morning hours of the 6th of February. Despite the shear amount of tornadoes, and the 5 EF4 tornadoes, the Super Tuesday Outbreak is often not talked about nowadays as compared to other winter time tornado outbreaks such as the December 10-11 Tornado Outbreak, but the damage the Super Tuesday Tornado Outbreak caused to the people of the Southern United States warrants a deeper look on the outbreak as a whole. Today, I will be going over the 2008 Super Tuesday Tornado Outbreak and Weather Complex: A Background of severe weather that had occurred so far before the outbreak, the origins, The synopsis, What the system did, the aftermath, and the storm’s legacy.
