About the Record:

Avanti Sandeep Kulkarni sets a record for India’s Largest Warli Art Wall Painting. Avanti has completed a painting on the wall, sized approximately 58 ft x 30 ft, using exterior wall paint at The Manik Public School, Maniknagar, Humnabad, Karnataka state, India. The wall painting attempt was commenced on December 24, 2022, and completed in 13 days on January 5, 2023.

Warli art is a traditional form of tribal art that originated in the Warli region of Maharashtra, India, and is now popular globally. Warli is characterized by simple geometric shapes and figures like triangles, circles, and lines and is often used to depict everyday scenes and rituals. The authentic Warli art is drawn on a terracotta background with white colour.
This Warli Art Wall at The Manik Public School showcases layers of thoughtfully designed themes. The top layer has a traditional ‘Toran’ and displays eighteen Manik Public School (MPS) student activities. The second layer depicts the Warli way of making bamboo artifacts and pottery along with the inclusive Tarpa Dance form. It subtly shows the MPS way of hand-crafting student development. The third layer is dedicated to the Warli lifestyle and routines.

Shri. Anandraj Manik Prabhu, President of the Manik Education Society, says, “Warli Art is the best example of how simple geometric forms could be effectively used to create some magnificent works of art. This has been successfully demonstrated by Mrs. Avanti Kulkarni through her huge Warli Wall Painting on the walls of the Academic Block of Manik Public School. She has beautifully portrayed the educational vision of the school using the traditional Warli motifs.”

Mrs. Avanti Kulkarni expresses her deepest gratitude and honor for the opportunity to showcase her masterful Warli art on the grand walls of The Manik Public School. The experience of working on this magnificent project was both exhilarating and enlightening, as she skillfully depicted the values and initiatives of the school in her intricate Warli paintings. The task of painting on a grand canvas of 58 ft x 30 ft, which required climbing five layers of scaffolding, was challenging but ultimately rewarding.

She attributes the success of this dream to the blessings of H.H. Shri. Manik Prabhu Maharaj and the guidance of her family's elders. She is eternally grateful to her family for their unwavering support and encouragement. She also extends her heartfelt thanks to H. H. Dnyanraj Manik Prabhu Maharaj, Anandraj Manik Prabhu-ji, Sumangala-ji Jagirdar madam, Arundhati-ji Bhagwat madam, Charudatta-ji Prabhu, and all Manikians for placing their faith and confidence in her for this prestigious art initiative. She feels truly blessed to be a part of this grand endeavor and is honored to have contributed to the rich cultural heritage of The Manik Public School.
