Apart from being one of the main thoroughfares of Kolkata, Red Road is known to us for another reason, that is the Republic Day Parade. Also, recently the grand carnival of Durga Puja has started on this road. This is how we know the Red Road or Indira Gandhi Sarani in various forms. But do you know why this road was named Red Road? Why did the British government build this road? This episode of "Kolkatar Golpokotha" is hence based on the history of Red Road.
