After a prenatal appointment in Hennigsdorf, Brandenburg, the heavily pregnant Maike Thiel disappears without a trace. The police's search for the 17-year-old is unsuccessful. It is only 15 years after her disappearance that Maike's ex-boyfriend and his mother are arrested. Both claim to have nothing to do with it. Although there is no body, no crime scene and no confessions, they are sentenced to life imprisonment for murder and incitement to murder. Her current lawyers believe that this verdict should never have been made and will submit an application for a retrial in 2023.
