Kia is doing very well in the Australian market. I don't mean the occasional flurry led by marketing dollars, I mean product-driven growth over four, five, or more years.
Yet they have a bit of an image of being a small car company. The biggest penetration in various segments tends to be in the small classes.
But can they do as well with bigger cars? We're here for the launch of the fourth generation of their Sorento, their large SUV.
They are only 11th in the large SUV category below $70,000 although there is a large number of competing models some are genuine four-wheel drives others are clearly in the family wagon class.
Mercedes Benz is selling a few more of their GLE-class wagon than the KIA Sorento. Why? I can't explain.
The Sorento is clearly a family wagon more than a rugged off-roader but can it and can it be seen to reinforce Kia’s strengths of great features, competitive price, and a 7-year warranty?
