About the Aerostar: designed by the legendary Ted Smith, the Aerostar was the culmination of a career's worth of experience in how to design fast, efficient airplanes. While out of production since 1983, the Aerostar is still supported by the factory and has an incredibly active owner's community. Often considered the hidden gem of piston twins, no airplane has the handling characteristics combined with raw speed that the Aerostar offers. It's a pilot's dream to fly!

Why an Aerostar? I currently co-own Piper Archers, a Cessna 172, and a Cessna 182 in a flying club. But I've learned four seats just aren't enough, even when only flying two people! So I began a search for most of 2021 for an upgrade to a faster six seater, focusing on the Piper Saratoga, but keeping Aerostars, Piper Malibus, and others in the back of my mind. I had resigned myself to trying to find a Saratoga to buy, when this Aerostar project was listed for sale locally in January 2022 and changed everything...
