Today I’m visiting the pretty Cotswolds villages of Eastleach Martin & Eastleach Turville.
Both are picture postcard villages with the beautiful river leach meandering slowly through them both.
There are 2 beautiful churches dating back to the 12th Century, a traditional village pub built originally as a coaching inn in the 1600s and a rather unusual clapper bridge that crosses the river leach and originates from Medieval times.

We start our walk in Eastleach Martin and pay a visit to St Michael and St Martin’s Church known locally as Bouthrop Church.
The Church was founded in the 12th Century by Richard Fitzpons and in the 19th Century the scholar, writer and churchman John Keble was curate here. Keble College Oxford is named after the church curate. Sadly the church no longer holds regular services but thankfully its still open to the general public.

We then cross the river through to Eastleach Turville and visit St Andrews Church.
The Clapper Bridge is probably the most photographed landmark in the villages and is a medieval stone bridge originally built for horses and people to cross the river Leach. Its also known as Keble Bridge.

Both villages have some classic Cotswold stone houses and during springtime there are daffodils and crocus plants everywhere making it a very pretty and charming place to visit especially on a sunny day.
We end our walk as we often to in the village pub which sits in the centre of Eastleach Turville. The Victoria Inn is the quintessential English Village Pub with roaring open fires, a scrumptious food menu and plenty of real ales to quench your thirst after finishing your walk.

I hope you will enjoy your walk with me around Eastleach Martin and Eastleach Turville and feel inspired to perhaps one day pay a visit yourself to these classic Cotswolds villages.
