Das 21. Internationale Opel-Blitz-Treffen hat Station am Haus Sondermann in Velbert-Neviges gemacht. Der letzte Blitz lief im Jahr 1975 vom Band. Doch die Arbeit hat sich gelohnt. „Wir hatten 82 Anmeldungen und etliche, die noch spontan vorbeigekommen sind“, berichtet er stolz und weist auf die große Wiese hinter dem Haus Sondermann, auf der beinahe Radkappe an Radkappe ein historischer Opel Blitz neben dem anderen steht. Auf der Wiese daneben tobt der jüngste Nachwuchs der Opel-Blitz-Begeisterten, im Saal sitzen derweil die Erwachsenen nicht minder gedrängt und warten auf die Siegerehrung – bei der Ausfahrt galt es nämlich, verschiedene Fotomotive wiederzufinden und Aufgaben zu lösen.Doch beginnen kann die Siegerehrung noch nicht, denn Veidt hat weiterhin zu tun, sitzt am Eingang zur Wiese und prüft Listen. Währenddessen schlendern Gäste von einem Blitz zum anderen, staunen und fachsimpeln. Es sind die Details, die dieses Treffen alter Lastwagen – der älteste Opel Blitz vor Ort stammt aus dem Jahr 1939 –, besonders machen. Etwa die beiden Wackeldackel hinter der Rückbank eines gelb-roten Busses. Oder der Aufkleber „Wechsel/Exchange“ auf einem niederländischen Sparkassen-Blitz – tatsächlich als rollende Wechselstube in Betrieb gewesen. Oder die Internet-Adresse auf dem Verkaufswagen einer Bäckerei. Oder die ganze Abteilung von Feuerwehrfahrzeugen, stilecht mit Blaulicht, Leiter und Vorbaupumpe.„Das ist das Tolle am Blitz“, sagt Veidt, der es wissen muss (schließlich traf ihn der Blitz bereits im Alter von fünf Jahren). „Der wurde in gefühlt 100 000 verschiedenen Ausführungen gebaut, immer maßgeschneidert.“ Zwar stehen an der Siebeneicker Straße nicht ganz so viele Opel Blitze, aber es sind viele, viele verschiedene – vom Transporter über den Abschleppwagen und das Camping-Mobil zum Verkaufswagen und zum Bus. Abgesehen von gleichen Formen und Farben ist jeder anders.Viele Teile müssen heute selbst angefertigt werden, weil es sie nicht mehr gibt, denn immerhin ist der letzte Opel Blitz 1975 vom Band gelaufen. „Machbar ist alles“, erklärt Veidt, der früher selbst eine Autowerkstatt mit Abschleppdienst betrieb, „manches muss man eben passend machen.“

Or the entire department of fire-fighting vehicles, true to style with blue lights, ladder and pump pump. "That's the great thing about the flash," says Veidt, who must know (after all, the lightning struck him at the age of five). "It was built in a felt 100,000 different versions, always tailor-made." Although not as many Opel flashes on the Siebeneicker road, but there are many, many different - from the van over the tow truck and the camping-mobile to the sales car and the Bus. Apart from the same shapes and colors, everyone is different. Many parts must be made today because they no longer exist, because after all, the last Opel Blitz 1975 was off the production line. "Everything is feasible," explains Veidt, who used to run a car repair shop with towing service himself. "Some things have to be made to fit."
