Aquaculture is the fastest-growing industry in the world. Every country gives importance to food security, especially in the Middle East. In Gulf countries, there are difficulties in the cultivation of seafood due to its climate comprising of high temperatures during the day, which can be harmful to fish or shrimp, so it is important to study more about which cultivation species are suitable for that particular country.

Different nations have different cuisines and this is also one of the key reasons that particular species get good prices, are easy to market, and yield profitability. Vannamei is a species that has a short-period of culture; within 4 months, it can reach upto 30 grams, so most farmers select Vannamei for cultivation. Profitability and ease of selling are the main keys to encouraging farmers to adopt Vannamei cultivation. An environmental impact study will also be important because sea water pollution is a main concern and fresh water is likely expensive in Gulf countries.

Aquaculture has several technologies, but it is important that we select a suitable technology suiting a country's climate, temperature, humidity, wind, and rainfall. Here, we have selected L Vannamei, which has a higher temperature tolerance and can be cultivated in the sea waters of Bahrain which has an average salinity of 35 PPT. Vannamei can be cultivated from 3 PPT to up to 35 PPT; the higher the salinity, the slower the growth, according to recent studies.
Every parameter of the water is recorded and loaded into the Vannamei Culture Software Application, so that the integrated system itself can monitor the progress of growth and parameter variations like Dissolved Oxygen, Ammonia PH, Nitrite and Nitrate. The Farm owner can also look after Feed Balancing management by using this mobile app.

At Bahrain, we have procured nanotechnology for the Shrimp cultivation. Pacific Shrimp L-Vannamei are grown with the help of micronutrients, probiotics, water quality-improving microbes, minerals, dates syrup, brew yeast and several organic vegetable extracts. Fresh Sea Water is used for the cultivation of the Shrimp. Sea water is pumped in to the reservoir with a built-in gravel filter, to make sure that no fish or wildlife comes into the cultivation pond.
It is also important that there is no ammonia in this water. It was found that there were some amounts of Ammonia in the sea water due to lots of dead algae coming into the sea water pumping area, so the pumping was stopped and water from the reservoir tanks were used. This may happen during the windy season.

L-vannamei is an exotic species and it is important to make sure they do not go into the open sea. Therefore the project has to be designed accordingly to incorporate these security measures.

The used culture water is recycled by gravel media and then returned to Sea Lakes. This water is rich with nitrogenous organic fertilizers, which are absorbed by mangroves as nutrients, thus making this process Eco Friendly and Sustainable. Sustainable farming is the key to Success.
