NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — Leaders in North Charleston are taking a new approach to stopping violent crime.

On Thursday, elected officials announced a multi-level plan aimed at getting the community more involved in helping slow or stop crime.

"It's a sickness," said Sandino Moses, a member of the North Charleston City Council. "It's a cancerous thing that, if we don't watch out, can take our city over, and that's not what we are going to let happen."
