All summer long we have a variety of wasp species making nests under the eaves of our house. They are a lively presence during the warm summer months but when the temperatures turn cold the wasps all disappear and we tend to overlook their nests. This year we decided to look more closely at their nests and research the lives of these astonishing insects. I've been particularly inspired by a new book called "Endless Forms: The Secret World of Wasps" by Seirian Sumner which explores the under-appreciated intelligence and remarkable adaptations of wasps.
