This week I went on an adventure like no other. I ran my steps to the elevation of Everest Basecamp, what a challenge it has been! I wanted to try and encourage others to keep active during these uncertain times, whilst spreading a positive message!

When Rory Southworth put out a call at the start of the week to get adventurers and those crazy enough to take part in this challenge, I knew I couldn’t hold myself back. This was my opportunity to grab the camera and create a film all about this expedition!

It is incredible to be a part of such an amazing team for this challenge. We have connected from all across the UK and some a little further. Everyone has been trying to spread their own positive messages.

Day 1 - I ran 640m in elevation, the highest of all the five days planned. The first day really felt like one of the biggest achievements. This was the day I had to make running my steps at home part of my daily routine, especially for the week ahead!

I am positive on camera but that doesn’t mean I’m not finding this situation difficult. I’ve not left the house because of my asthma, but this challenge has allowed to focus on something at night, keeping active and hopefully whilst inspiring others along the way!

Day 2 complete! The motto to get me through was “Stop caring start doing!” Hopefully I have encouraged others to stop being nervous about doing the things you love, I’ve always wanted to create vlogs and here I am giving it a go.

Day 3 - 480 metres, 300 flights, 2700 steps! The third day is always the hardest of any five day expedition, it’s the day your almost half way through but not quite there yet!

Never did I think when looking at my steps that I would be sizing up Everest Basecamp! My steps have taken a stomping this week, however, it’s been nothing but an incredible experience! My neighbours must have hated having me running up and down the stairs as their new alarm clock!

Remember folks, always stay connected to the ones we love. We might not have our sidekicks beside us for motivation but they are always there to support you. Make time to look out for each other!

The final day brought lots of smiles. This is the day we headed on up together to reach our Virtual Everest Basecamp. So far I have completed 1338 flights up and down my stairs only another 288 before the celebrations begin!

WE MADE IT TO EVEREST BASECAMP!!

What an adventure it has been. At the start of the week the thought of running up and down my stairs for 5 days sounded crazy. I didn’t think I had the energy, the motivation, or the legs to even get me there.

However, after running 8500ft up my stairs I’ve never felt better! Today I was also reminded that not only did I run up that high but I also ran down 8500ft. That means we ran all the way up to Basecamp and back again. Crazy!

A big up to Rory and the rest or the team for keeping spirits high. These are strange times and spending time indoors with none of the usual luxuries, cinemas, sport or even just with loved ones can be really hard. However, this past week I have loved spending time indoors and that’s all thanks to the team. They have created memories, moments and laughs that will stick with me forever. This challenge shows the strengths of staying connected and looking out for one another. You never know who could benefit from these positive messages.

To those that followed along thank you for sending incredible messages of support , they really helped me push on especially when I was feeling a little down. Hopefully this has maybe even encouraged you to take up your own challenges. Share positivity during a negative time!
