Have you ever wondered how mirrors and reflections work in video games? It’s not as easy as you might think. It actually takes an incredible amount of time and GPU oriented resources to create convincing reflections in games. Of course, all of that is about to change with the introduction of ray tracing and next-gen consoles.

The PS5 and the Series X are ushering in ray tracing to consoles for the first time ever but PC gamers have had access to the technical marvel for a while. So what is ray tracing exactly and how does it work?
