Brief footage of the two goals scored by Wolves in their 2-1 UEFA Cup Quarter-final 2nd Leg defeat of Juventus (aggregate 3-2) on 22nd March 1972.

On their journey to the UEFA Cup quarter-final, Wolves had travelled extensively throughout Europe - including a lengthy trip behind the Iron Curtain to play Carl Zeiss Jena in the previous round. Bill McGarry's team had performed superbly in the quarter-final first leg in Turin to earn a 1-1 draw courtesy of Jim McCalliog's volleyed goal. Juventus were, at that time, leading Serie A and would ultimately win the scudetto for the then fourteenth time in their history. The merit of Wolves' draw in Turin (and their victory at Molineux) was highlighted by the fact that Juventus also won Serie A the following season and reached the final of the European Cup in 1972-73.

Juventus legend John Charles had accompanied Wolves on their trip to Turin and predicted that the Italian team would be so disheartened by the result many of their top players would not make the journey to Wolverhampton for the second leg. Charles's prediction proved to be correct, but one player that did make the trip was 1966 World Cup finalist and goalscorer Helmut Haller. The German scored a late penalty for Juventus in reply to Danny Hegan's long range opener (incorrectly attributed to Frank Munro by narrator Bob Hall) and Derek Dougan's 52nd minute header - his ninth goal of Wolves' UEFA campaign.

Over 40,000 attended Molineux to witness a memorable night in Wolves' history as McGarry's team advanced to the semi-final and a two-legged encounter with Ferencvaros (   • Wolves v Ferencvaros, UEFA Cup Semi-f...  ) and ultimately an all-English final against Tottenham Hotspur (   • Wolves v Tottenham Hotspur, UEFA Cup ...  .
