One interaction can change the course of your life.

Joe Symon was in trouble when two SS soldiers approached him in an alley in Budapest, 1944.

Joe kept his head down but the soldiers stopped him and said….

“Hi Joe - don’t you recognise me?”

Joe, bewildered, looked up… And realised these weren’t two SS soldiers.

They were two Jews dressed in SS uniform.

And… he knew them!

One used to live on the same street as his family in Budapest.

This chance encounter resulted in Joe joining the Jewish underground for the remainder of World War II.
