This is a step by step instructional video showing you how to fix a twin cylinder Briggs and Stratton engine in a lawn tractor that keeps bending and breaking pushrods. In this case the 24hp engine is in a Craftsman riding lawnmower, but similar engines are used in many different brands. The repair can be done by most do-it-yourselfers with common tools. The cause of this damage turns out to be a mouse nest blocking the cylinder head cooling fins. The head overheated, the valve guide then migrated out of place so that the valve was unable to close fully which bent and then broke the push rod. I'll show you how to remove the head, remove the valves, insert a set screw to hold the valve guide in place and put it all back together. Once the cooling passage are cleaned out, the problem is solved and there should be no further issues.
