ফিনল্যান্ড ইউরোপের সবচেয়ে নবীন রাষ্ট্রগুলির একটি হলেও এর সাংস্কৃতিক ঐতিহ্য ও স্বাতন্ত্র‌্য সুবিদিত। এখানে প্রাচীরঘেরা প্রাসাদের পাশাপাশি আছে অত্যধুনিক দালানকোঠা। এছাড়া এখানে ঘন সবুজ অরণ্য ও প্রচুর হ্রদ রয়েছে। দেশটির বনভূমি এর সবচেয়ে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ প্রাকৃতিক সম্পদ; এগুলিকে প্রায়ই ফিনল্যান্ডের “সবুজ সোনা” নামে ডাকা হয়। আর অর্থনৈতিকভাবে দেশটি অত্যন্ত উন্নত। বিশ্বের সর্বোচ্চ মাথাপিছু আয়ের দেশগুলোর মধ্যে অন্যতম ফিনল্যান্ড। তারা শিল্প খাতে প্রভূত অগ্রগতি অর্জন করেছে। এছাড়া শিক্ষা, ব্যক্তিস্বাধীনতা, জীবনযাপনের মান ও মানব-উন্নয়নের ক্ষেত্রে বিশ্বের অগ্রগামী দেশগুলোর মধ্যে একটি ফিনল্যান্ড।
