This video is a top down test assembly of a 32 foot diameter 4V geodesic dome.
I had no way of attaching the cover using the bottom up method. So I used tripods and block-and-tackle to hoist the dome up from the sides. The tripods were made from indoor 2x4 studs connected together with a 3/8 inch bolt. The bolt was then bent inward to allow the tripod legs to spread out.
For a solo assembly, this hoisting setup worked well enough up until the last row.
The weight of the dome was around 250+lbs per section causing too much friction on the rope in block-and-tackle and could not be lifted single-handedly. A chain hoist would have been preferable at this point, as it has a higher mechanical advantage and locking mechanism.
