In this video I will be doing a review on a Woodmasters 50 inch drum sander. I always get questions on how I like it, so I figured I would do a review on it once I've had it and used it for a while. For the price of it at $6,200 on sale, it's kind of hard to beat.

A wide belt sander with the same sanding capacity would be in upwards of $27,000!

Like anything else in this world, you get what you pay for. I'm sure that the $27,000 machine would out perform the $6,200 one. For an entry level machine I believe this 50 inch drum sander can get the job done as long as you don't exceed the machines ability. I believe each tool no matter the cost has its place and limitations.

Over all i like this drum sander, it drastically reduces my sanding with an orbital sander. I typically run 100 grit paper in the drum sander and start my finish sanding at 120 grit.

The cons of this machine is that the conveyor belt could use a little extra torque. Right now if you try to take to much off in one pass the conveyor belt will stop and cause divet marks in your work piece. This causes me to have to run through the sander more to fix the damage.

Over all, if you have the space in your shop, I would say this is good machine.
