While Mad Max is arguably the most famous, there have been many “slow collapse” films that examine the breakdown of society from different angles. Here I’m looking at it primarily through 2006’s Children of Men and 1990’s Prayer of the Rollerboys, though with a couple other mentions to broaden the scope a bit.

With Children of Men I keep referring to Julian as Julia. I’d just read 1984 again right before shooting this one.
