Family heirlooms, you surely love them or hate them, but they are always good for some friendly family chatter. In my house it was my Mom's Grandmother's ornament. It had ragged, rusty tinsel surrounding glass ornaments that were tattered and worn. We used to beg Mom not to put it on the tree, but since it was Great Grandma's it adorned the coveted spot in the back of the tree. I have no idea whatever happened to that ornament but I would love to have it now. It's funny how that goes...

Speaking of holidays, IOD (Iron Orchid Designs) has made holiday decorating so easy! Their new Paint Inlays make getting that old vintagy look so simple (vintagy, is that even a word?) There is no better way to get that time worn look than with this brand new product.

I'm using a 16x20 wood canvas that I bought at a big box store, DIY White Swan Paint and the Noel Paint Inlay by IOD to create this beautiful art work. I used DIY Clear Liquid Patina as my transfer medium but mineral and clay based paints work really well too. This step by step tutorial will teach you exactly how I made this decor using 2 sections of the 8-page Paint Inlay. The possibilites are endless!

What is your favorite holiday ornament? I'd love to hear in the comments!
