Tour Palm Springs California.

In this video I'm going to take you on a scenic tour as drive through the best neighborhoods, in uptown and downtown Palm Springs and a drive through the desert. I think you will really enjoy drive.

If you are planning a visit to Palm Springs for a vacation, we'll be passing by some of the best known hotels and a lot of the smaller neighborhood boutique spots.

If you are looking at Palm Springs real estate, you'll see examples of mid century modern and desert modern homes in some of the most popular neighborhoods such as Old Las Palmas, Vista Las Palmas, the Movie Colony, the Historic Tennis Club, Tahquitz River Estates and others.

And even if you aren't thinking of buying a home in Palm Springs, knowing the neighborhoods can come in handy when deciding where you want to Airbnb on your next Palm Springs getaway.

PALM SPRINGS NEIGHBORHOODS

We love our neighborhoods in Palm Springs and at last count, the City of Palm Springs identified 66 different neighborhoods.

OLD LAS PALMAS

Considered the most exclusive neighborhood in Palm Springs, this is also where some of the most expensive homes have been sold in Palm Springs. It is also where you'll see the greatest number of celebrity homes - even if many of them are behind walls, hedges or both. So there's limited real estate eye candy here. But you'll still see some great homes here.

There are approximately 290 Singe Family Residences in Old Las Palmas as well as a few apartments and condos.

While there are some desert modern homes, many of the properties are more Spanish themed. Many people who buy homes in Old Las Palmas do extensive updating and remodeling.

VISTA LAS PALMAS

Vista Las Palmas, located just to the west and partially to the north of Old Las Palmas, as around 330 midcentury modern single family homes. This is quite possibly the largest concentration of preserved and restored examples of these homes found anywhere. And most of them are visible from the street. Maybe that's why Vista Las Palmas is one of my favorite neighborhoods anywhere in the world.

Many of these homes were designed by the architectural firm of Palmer and Krisel and feature butterfly roofs. You'll also see a number of A-frame "Swiss Miss" homes designed by Charles Dubois.

If you do the modernism tour of Vista Las Palmas, make sure to check out the House of Tomorrow built for the owners of the Alexander Construction Company and also known as the honeymoon house for Elvis and Priscilla Presley.

TWIN PALMS ESTATES

Twin Palms Estates, in south Palm Springs, was the first neighborhood built by the Alexander Construction Company and it is just as enchanting today as it was when it was built.

Many of the homes were designed by William Krisel and feature the sought after midcentury rooflines. While these homes may look different from the outside, they typically feature the same floor plan.

THE MOVIE COLONY

This is a very desirable neighborhood of about 700 homes located close to downtown Palm Springs. While the homes aren't as exclusive as Old Las Palmas or as distinctive as Vista Las Palmas, there are some great examples of Palm Springs real estate here.

And there's also Frank Sinatra's original Palm Springs home built in 1947.

MIRALON

Miralon is a new gated community in north Palm Springs. It is an "agrihood" with over 7,000 olive trees. The desert modern homes are complimented by an amazing community center.

ESCENA

The gated community of Escena features homes around the Escena golf course.

INDIAN CANYONS

The homes here are also located around a golf course and are built on leased land.

THE HISTORIC TENNIS CLUB

These homes are also located near downtown Palm Springs. Skye is a collection of 40 desert modern homes.
