The NFL has a problem. How much should a team actually pay its quarterback? More specifically, is paying a quarterback tons of money actually worth it.. or not?

Russell Wilson is (or was) one of the best quarterbacks in the league, but he’s also one of the most expensive. And his play on the field, so far in Denver has been... disappointing, to say the least. Wilson signed a four-year contract extension with the Broncos worth $165 million in new money, making him one of the highest-paid players in the league. At the time the Broncos, with a top defense thought the only piece that was missing was that Elite QB. However, since becoming a Bronco, Wilson has also thrown more interceptions than touchdowns, taken more sacks than any other quarterback, and fumbled more times than any other player and plenty other bad decisions on and off the field.

So, was the price tag worth it? And to step back and look at the bigger picture, or problem. How are teams able to pay quarterbacks such historical amounts of money and how does that affect the rest of the organization? And what are the pros and cons of investing so much in one player?
