Being Paralyzed Deserves to be Abandoned? Tearful End for Uncared Kitten
It was remarkable how resilient that little one was. Despite being so young, the baby cat faced such adversity.
This was Frankie, perhaps he had been abandoned by his owner and left to fend for himself. Frankie's future seemed bleak. Dirty, covered in fleas, hypothermic, dehydrated, with back and hind legs that didn't work, it was as if all the challenges in the world had converged within that tiny body. Yet, amidst all that hardship, there was a sense of hope. The rescuer found the kitten and quickly took him to the veterinary for a check-up.
The rescuer put him in an incubator to warm him up, gave him water, food, and a bath, and he would have started to feel better.
Frankie was taken to the neurology department for an examination about his back legs that didn't work. He was also incontinent, so he had to wear a diaper. They found that Frankie had suffered a spinal injury that caused him to lose nerve function in his back end. The injury appeared to have only happened days ago, so there was a chance he could regain some nerve function. They started daily physical therapy with Frankie, as well as acupuncture, PEMFT, and Acuscope sessions to give him the very best chance at recovering nerve function. And even if he didn't regain nerve function, he could still live a full and happy life!
