BOKASHI farming Process

1. What is BOKASHI

Bokashi – Japanese word meaning fermented organic matter. Uses IMO to promote growth and management of healthy pigs.


2. what does IMO do
☆.Suppresses offensive smell of manure
☆Prevents flies in pen
☆ Reduces fatty layer under skin
☆ Produces robust pigs which do not need inoculation of antibiotics
☆ Improve the digestive system of the pigs



3.IMO consists of the following five families of micro-organisms:
☆Lactic acid bacteria:these bacteria are differentiated by their powerful sterilising properties.They suppress harmful microorganisms and encourage quick breakdown of organic substances.Inaddition,they can suppress the reproduction of Fusarium,a harmfulfungus.

☆Yeasts:these manufacture anti-microbial and use ful substances for plant growth.Their metabolites are food for other bacteria such as the lactic acid and actinomycete groups.

☆Actinomycetes:these suppress harmful fungi and bacteria and can live together with photo synthetic bacteria.
