I check the Birfield grease level and check the knuckle stud nut torque. The Knuckle nuts are prone to loosening over time and need periodic retightening to 71ft/lb, if you like to steer.

The Grease I haven't checked in awhile but have done several river crossings so I want to make sure that one, they aren't full of water, and two, the seals haven't gone bad and diff fluid is leaking into the Birfield Joint space.
