In this video, Specialist Dana Rubenstein reviews Common Sense Media's lessons on Self-Management. Today’s focus is on how to respond to people being mean online, otherwise known as cyberbullying!

Today the focus is on how I respond to meanness online. Students are bombarded with negative feelings and emotions. They need tools on how to address and protect themselves from these pressures.

The primary focus will be S-T-O-P to respond to meanness.

The intermediate focus builds on S-T-O-P and learns to think about what words we use and show empathy and support others online.

The middle school focus is dealing with digital drama. They will learn to reflect on what is digital drama and why it may happen. Then, develop strategies to de-escalate the digital drama.

The high school level will focus on encountering hate speech online and how it impacts themselves as well as others. They will also see how to recognize the demand for creating welcoming online environments and the opportunities to combat hate speech.
