You Love the Things That Hurt You

She blooms like a rosebud in the spring,
And you've always loved the things that hurt you.


She bled upon your jagged edges,
And for once, you yearned to smooth the rawness.


She offers you a pomegranate’s promise,
A taste of longing wrapped in sorrow.


But in her eyes, you've glimpsed a light,
and so, she's your only hope to brighten the eternal night.
