Roy Hesketh Circuit was a motorsport race track located near the city of Pietermaritzburg in KwaZulu-Natal Province, South Africa. The track was named after a local racing driver, Roy Hesketh, who died during World War II.

The circuit was built in 1950 and was originally a 1.6 km (1 mile) long circuit. In 1957, it was extended to 2.4 km (1.5 miles) and was considered one of the most challenging circuits in South Africa. The track featured a mix of fast and slow corners, as well as a long straight that allowed for high-speed racing.

Roy Hesketh Circuit hosted many major motorsport events during its heyday, including rounds of the South African Formula One Championship, the Springbok Series for sports cars, and the South African Touring Car Championship. The circuit also hosted motorcycle racing, with several South African motorcycle champions emerging from the track.

However, the circuit fell into disrepair in the 1980s and 1990s and was eventually closed in 1981. In recent years, there have been efforts to restore the circuit and bring motorsport back to Pietermaritzburg, and there are plans to have the track fully restored within the next 4 years. Here is the latest drive around the famous track. Which also held the first ever 3 liter F1 race.
