what is the least shrinkage/most stable wood?
#fretboard or fingerboard is an Important part of all stringed musical instruments such as #guitar ,#violin , etc... It is not usually varnished, so in exposure of air, humidity and strings abrasion. Then #luthier s usually have to use woods with good crush resistance and stability against humidity changes.
Despite usual usage of ebony wood for finger boards of guitars, violins, ouds, etc... ebony is very swelling/shrinking wood when humidity changes!
In this video, we want to present the stablest wood with the least shrinkage, it is of good crush resistancy against abrasion, with density of 0.8- 0.85 same as density of rose woods such as Brazilian rose wood and Indian rose wood.
Then at tutorial part of video, you will know what is the shrinkage of wood, what is the difference of shrinkage in radial and tangential boards, which sawn method(radial cutted wood Vs Tangential Cutted wood) is better.
And at end of video a comparison between usual woods used for finger board, such as African Ebony, Indian Ebony, African black wood, Brazilian Rose wood and Indian Rose wood.
