This is Part One of a three-part video, that will not only show you how to make custom lasts for yourself, but will take you through the process of making a felt last filled with sand that you can use to drape your upper over when making a pair of stitch-down shoes.
This last can be useful for other shoemaking processes as well; if you are felting a boot, it is much easier to shrink your felt over lasts such as these instead of over your foot! You might fill them with a different material, please let me know your suggestions.
