On 6/5/2020, marine ecological conservation was thrown into dire straits with the reopening of the Northeast Canyons to commercial fishing.

Located 130 mi SE of Cape Cod, The Canyons are an intricate network of undersea ravines and seamounts containing pristine marine ecosystems and rich biodiversity. They are home to important deep-sea corals, endangered whales, imperiled sea turtles, other marine mammals, and numerous fish species.

This fragile underwater ecosphere garnered protection under the Obama administration.

Undue the damage that’s been done. Support sustainable seafood, stock share programs, and marine habitat restoration. These give endangered, threatened, and overfished populations a fighting chance to survive for generations to come.
