Why I loved Pirith is for the reason it creates a certain quite and calm environment for me especially when i am having a disturbed mind. Listening to this Buddhist chanting helps immensely to reduce stress. I realized even as a child that Pirith has a unique musical sound which last more than the effect a song has on me. As a musician and a vocalist I have been told that pirith can be compared to polyphonic music. Meaning it has several layers of melodies sung at the same time but with an intricate texture. The Sri Lankan Pirith Ose or style is a very unique one and is not found in any other Buddhist country. Listening to Pirith will create a positive frame of mind for you! Listen to it before you go to sleep and after you wake up... you will be amazed at the results!
