This woodworking video is about Band Saw - L Shaped Rip Fence. This rip fence is simply a band saw accessory that is made from scrap MDF. It has a rub strip of red oak. The L shaped fence is secured by clamping spring clamps to the regular rip fence.

The L shaped rip fence is used when ripping flat material. Using this fence allows the woodworker to have more space for his hands. This way the woodworker can have better control of the material when making a rip cut.

The L shaped rip fence allows for the bearing guide assembly to be adjusted to a height just above the material being cut. This is a safety feature as the is little blade that is exposed to one's fingers.
