Today marks 10 years since Eric Garner was tragically killed in Staten Island, NY by former police officer Daniel Pantaleo with the use of an illegal chokehold. His mother Gwen Carr, and his children have helped to keep the fight for justice in his name alive. The National Action Network has stood alongside the Garner family since day 1 and we will continue to support them in this tedious journey for justice and accountability.

Today 7/17/24, NAN members stood with Gwen Carr once more, returning to the place where Eric took his last breath, to honor his memory and continue the call for justice. We gathered to show community in unity, even amidst the pain and anger, that we will not be divided.

Together, we fight on in Eric’s name against injustice and police brutality. While we have seen some progress, such as body cameras and the Eric Garner law, true justice and accountability for Eric’s death remain elusive.

In his honor and his family’s relentless pursuit of justice, we pledge to continue the fight.
