Poet and writer Felicia Mitchell, who grew up in South Carolina and North Carolina, has made her home in the mountains of Virginia since 1987. For 33 years, she taught English, including linguistics and creative writing, at Emory & Henry College. Over the years, her poems about family, herself, myth, and the natural world have appeared in a range of publications, including the anthologies Mountains Piled Upon Mountains. Appalachian Nature Writing in the Anthropocene (WVU Press) and The Southern Poetry Anthology, Volume IX: Virginia (Texas Tech Press). Her poetry collections include A Mother Speaks, A Daughter Listens: Journeying Together through Dementia (Wising Up Press) and Waltzing with Horses (Press 53).
