For nearly two thousand years, the town of Kodungallur in Kerala has witnessed the rise and fall of global history from the shores of the Indian Ocean. In our first-ever Malayalam documentary, brought to you on Onam, the Malayalam New Year, Connected Histories explores Kodungallur's long-forgotten past. From the fleets of the Romans and the poetry of the Sangam period; through the evolution of states and kingship in medieval Kerala; to the conflicts of Kochi and Kozhikode and the interventions of the Chinese and Portuguese all the way to the present day — this is a history of Kerala and the world as you've never seen it before.
