In this video from The CTAD Clinic, Dr MikeLloyd, Clinic Director, discusses the main treatment approaches to working with complex trauma and dissociation. While not focusing on specific therapeutic types (for example, cogitive behavioural therapy / CBT), there is a discussion about the merits of using guidelines as a general framework towards therapy. The importance of keeping the individual in mind is asserted.

The main guidelines mentioned in the video are the Adult Treatment Guidelines for Treating Dissociative Identity Disorder in Adults (2011) set out by the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation. In addition, Practice Guidelines for Treatment of Complex Trauma from the Blue Knot Foundation in Autralia are mentioned.

The Guidelines referenced tend to be used for complex dissociation, such as Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) and Other Specified Dissociative Disorder (OSDD) but in clinical terms are also adaptable for working with associated conditions such as depersonalisation, amnesia and conversion.
