वडिलांच्या मालमत्तेवर मुलींच्या हक्काबाबत सर्वोच्च न्यायालयाने (Supreme Court) महत्त्वपूर्ण आदेश दिला आहे. संयुक्त कुटुंबात राहणाऱ्या व्यक्तीचा मृत्यू मृत्यूपत्र न करता झाला, तर त्याच्या मालमतेवर त्याची मुलगी उत्तराधिकारी असेल, असे न्यायालयाने म्हटले आहे. मुलीला तिच्या वडिलांच्या भावाच्या मुलापेक्षा मालमत्तेचा वाटा देण्यास प्राधान्य दिले जाईल. हिंदू उत्तराधिकार कायदा, 1956 लागू होण्यापूर्वी मालमत्ता वितरणालाही अशी व्यवस्था लागू होईल, असेही न्यायालयाने म्हटले आहे. आज चर्चा करणार आहोत या संपूर्ण बातमीची पूर्ण हिंदू उत्तराधिकारी कायदा काय आहे याची तसेच त्यात काय काय तरतुदी आहेत याची सुद्धा.

The Supreme Court has given important orders regarding the right of daughters to father's property. If a person living in a joint family dies without a will, his daughter will inherit the property, the court said. The daughter will be given preference over the share of the property over the son of her father's brother. The court also said that before the enactment of the Hindu Succession Act, 1956, a similar arrangement would apply to the distribution of property.
