Alma I Vida I Korason
Sivan Goldman - Soprano
Daniel Akiva - Guitar
Esta Noche (Tonight) is a sad lullaby song, in which the singing mother is weeping about the sorrows in her life. This song is included in the time travel project - Alma I Vida I Korason - among a wide variety of Ladino songs, which were arranged and composed by Daniel Akiva throughout his lifetime. Joining him with exquisitely delicate interpretation and elegance is soprano Sivan Goldman. The musical connection between Daniel and Sivan brings out the art of ancient Jewish traditional music in its pure simplicity, delicacy and charm.

Esta Noche
(Poem By Avner Perez)

Durmete mi alma
Durmete ojos de la kara
Esta noche tambien
Kedaré yo sola.

Esta noche tambien
No kere tu padre
Amostrar su facha.
Ma tu, ijiko mio, durmete agora.

Onde va arrastando
Kuando la luna se eskonde
Detras de las nuves?
Un amor muevo le siega sus ojos!

Durmete mi alma

Durmete ojos de la kara
Amanyana viendrá tu padre
Te dará un abraso.

Durmete mi alma
Durmete ojos de la kara
Esta noche tambien
Me kedí sola, tan sola.

(English translation: Dr. Talia Trainin)

Tonight

Slumber you, my soul;
Slumber, you light of my life.
Tonight all the more
I shall be left alone.

This night once again
Your father is averse
To show his face.
But you, my little son, are safe ashore.

Where shall he drag his feet
When the moon doth hide her face
Behind the heavy clouds?
A new love doth blind his eyes!

Slumber you, my soul,
Slumber, you light of my life.
That tomorrow shall your father come
And fold you in his arms.

Slumber you, my soul;
Slumber, you light of my life.
As tonight, all the more,
I was left alone, oh! so alone
