Upon his death, Sabasan chooses Sgt. Jake Rizzo to be the caretaker of his grandson Ernie, who is the last of the electric knights, a clan specially trained in the martial arts.

Sidekicks lasted two seasons, from 1986-87, and starred Gil Gerard and Ernie Reyes Jr.; the series also starred Nancy Stafford, Frank Bonner, and Keye Luke.
