Note: I am talking about a household with 2 people in it! Happy to talk about how to do this for more or less people.

1. Keep a well stocked pantry:
-Always have essentials; flour, butter, sugar, grains (preferably ancient grains), meat, vegetables.

2. Stop going to the grocery store every single week! Look at your grocery needs on a monthly basis, rather than a week to week basis.
-Go once or twice a month.
-Buy two versions of items: perishable and not-as-perishable. Example: lettuce and cucumbers for the beginning of the month, beets and carrots for the end of the month.

3. Bulk buy your groceries! Here are my favorite places to buy in bulk:
-Azure Standard
-Sams Club
-BJ’s
-Amazon

4. Preserve your food!
-Freezer is my #1 :) .. I got two large extra freezers for $300 total.
-Store in bulk-bins (large plastic food grade tubs, plastic bags, etc.) I got the under the bed idea from Shaye Elliot of the Elliot Homestead! :)
-Fermenting
-Canning
-Dehydrating

5. Cooking simply!
-Delicious home made bread, glazed carrots, roasted squash and roasts with lots of onions and garlic.
