Our friends at AYSO United have produced a training series delivered by AYSO United coaches as part of their continued coach education.

In part two of our training series, club Director Paul Bright delivers a coaching session on "Preventing Crosses In Wide Areas."

In this video, he focuses on teaching players to focus on the defensive third part of the field, preventing crosses from wide areas. The idea behind the activity is to give the opponent less time to create plays and crosses, ultimately forcing the opposing team into turnovers.

After watching this video, you will have a better understanding of what "preventing crosses in wide areas" means and how you're able to apply this technique in your next training session.

It's an excellent activity for coaches to use with their teams— focusing space, attacking, and communication between the players.

AYSO Soccer Training Sessions are an integral part of the learning curriculum offered to all AYSO United Coaches. If you're interested in obtaining more information about the program, please email us at [email protected].
