今回は湖西線の動画集をお送りいたします。湖西線は山科駅と近江塩津駅を結ぶ鉄道路線で、特急サンダーバードが運転されている区間の一部になっています。かつては寝台列車やいくつもの特急列車が運転されていましたが、現時点で運転されている特急列車はサンダーバードのみになります。鉄道車両の試運転の走行場所としても活用されており、最近は特急やくも向けの新型特急車両「273系」が走行したことで大きな話題になりました。琵琶湖に沿って線路が敷かれている箇所が多い路線ですが、高架化に加えて柵が設けられた箇所の増加により琵琶湖と合わせて写真及び動画を撮影できる場所には限りがあります。
普通列車で使用されている車両は223系が中心ですが、113系や117系の置き換えによって転属してきた車両も存在します（ちなみにサムネイルに写っている車両はまさにそれ）。前述のとおり特急サンダーバードが運転されているほか、貨物列車も金沢方面に運転されています。本編では1カットのみですがDEC741系も登場します。
撮影時の小話ですが、近江高島駅にはレンタサイクルがあり広い範囲での観光を楽しめます。特に白髭神社は近江エリアの最古の神社の一つで、延命長寿、縁結び、子授け、航海安全といったご利益があると信仰されています。他にも「Seikkousha Cafe ルヴァン」からは大きな窓から琵琶湖を一望しながら一服できます。
琵琶湖周辺を走る鉄道路線は他にもありますが、特に湖西線は琵琶湖が一望できます。湖畔の景色を堪能したい方にお勧めです。

This time we will send you a collection of videos of the Kosei Line. The Kosei Line connects Yamashina Station and Omi-Shiotsu Station, and is part of the section where the limited express THUNDERBIRD operates. In the past, sleeper trains and a number of express trains operated on the line, but at present the only express train in operation is the THUNDERBIRD. It is also used as a test run site for rolling stock, and recently became a major topic of conversation when a new limited express train "Series 273" for the limited express YAKUMO ran on the tracks. Although many parts of the line are laid out along Lake Biwa, there are only a limited number of places where photos and videos can be taken together with Lake Biwa, due to the elevation of the line and the increase in the number of fenced-off areas.
As a small story from the filming, there is a bicycle rental service at Omi Takashima Station, which allows visitors to enjoy sightseeing in a wide range of areas. The Shirahige Shrine in particular is one of the oldest shrines in the Omi area and is believed to bring blessings such as longevity, matchmaking, child bearing, and safe voyage. Other than that, you can enjoy a smoke from "Seikkousha Cafe Levant" while overlooking Lake Biwa from its large windows.
This line is recommended for those who want to enjoy the view of the lakeside.
