In the 2018/19 season, Ajax created one of the biggest sensations in the history of the Champions League - they epically reached the semi-finals!

The group was even, finishing second (behind Bayern Munich) to advance to the knockout stage. They faced Real Madrid, the three-time consecutive Champions League winners. Ajax lost in the first leg, yet won 4:1 at Bernabeu!

In the quarter-finals, they twice came back from 0-1 against Juventus with Ronaldo. However, in the second leg of the semi-finals against Tottenham Hotspur, Ajax led 3-0 at halftime on aggregate but somehow managed to lose their advantage and miss out on the final.
