Skyrocket, influenced by David Bowie, Television, and the MC5, fused rock, pop, and techno to create a unique sound. Formed in the late '90s, Irish transplants Eoin Killeen (vocals), Ken Reynolds (bass), and Emmaline Duffy-Fallon (drums) moved to New York City and were later joined by synth player Josh Byrnes and guitarist ILan Frid. Their debut 7” vinyl, ‘Celebrity,’ came out in 2004. The band garnered stellar reviews for their live performances and eponymous Skyrocket EP in Hits Magazine, The Village Voice, The Aquarian, and The New Yorker. Unusual for an unsigned band Skyrocket even sold out the Bowery Ballroom for a show in 2002. The band split up in the mid 2000s.
