Just three words is needed to be said. "It's Labour Day." Closing out Week 13 of the 2024 CFL Regular Season is the biggest week in the regular season is the Labour Day Classic where the Calgary Stampeders will be taking on their provincial rivals being the Edmonton Elks and this is a first of three match-ups during the 2024 CFL Regular Season.

Despite all of the hype this game has with the history and tradition for the Labour Day Classic. This game will have big standings implications for both sides in a wide open West Division. Calgary Stampeders coming into this one is at 4-6 lost their last 2 games and 1-3 in their last four game are fourth in the West Division, while the Edmonton Elks are 3-8 and fifth in the West Division but have been looking better recently with the coaching change to Jarious Jackson from Chris Jones. You can theoretically throw all this out of the window for Labour Day but this still needs to be kept in mind.

Calgary Stampeders are coming off of a bye week as they last played in Week 11 at home against the Ottawa RedBlacks but lost 31-29 on a last second field goal and took their first loss at home for the 2024 CFL Regular Season. Team is getting healthier with the time off as Sean McEwan is back at centre and Peyton Logan will be back at running back with Kylin Hill starting. That'll bring some much needed depth at running back and actually Dedrick Mills is back but not on the active roster after being gone due to personal. Calgary Stampeders also recently signed returner Chandler Worthy but won't draw in as he just joined over the bye week but these could be big adds for the second half of the season.

Edmonton Elks not sure when I recorded if either MacLeod Bethel-Thompson will be starting at quarterback or if Tre Ford. If last year was any indication Tre Ford will be more of a challenge for the Calgary Stampeders defense.

Hope this game will live up to the hype and it'll be hot both in the stands and on the field as it's forecasted to be over 30 degrees at game time.
