How to remove (and replace) an alternator in a 1994 Chevy G20 Van.

I noticed the volt meter gauge in my van was steadily decreasing as I drove from Montana to Washington until my check engine light turned on and my van eventually died.

Luckily, I was able to get to the end of the freeway exit, and a NAPA auto parts store was within half of a mile.

I pulled out my battery, and NAPA charged it for free on boil mode, which gave me enough juice to drive my van to the store, where I could wait for the new(remanufactured) alternator to arrive. NAPA graciously slow-charged my battery during my wait, so it was back to new condition when I could install the new part.

This job was completed with a socket wrench, a 10 mm socket, a 1/2 in socket, a 5/8 inch wrench, and a vice grip. There were only 3 bolts and 2 wires on the alternator. The belt configuration should be studied before removal. Maybe take a picture if you are unfamiliar, bur other than that it was pretty much, "plug and play."
