► Hello everyone and welcome back to Mystery Scoop. We're today looking at some fascinating photos of the American Old West. The late 1800s was a time of massive growth in the Western United States. The potential and promise of the undiscovered country and land led to thousands upon thousands of settlers guiding wagons west during the period. As a result, the times were often lawless, chaotic, and dangerous. It was also a time when the rapid Industrialization of America was in full swing, and building new railroads in particular, played a crucial part in the westward expansion. The American Old West was a wild and untamed American frontier. The frontier was a home to rough and rowdy people, cowboys and outlaws, gunslingers, and hostile Natives. Before settlers arrived, Native Americans populated the land. Sadly, much of their land was taken from them, often by force. Some decided to fight back, in some cases very hard, but eventually, they were all defeated and tribes were forced onto reservations. The invention of photography in the 19th century, has allowed us to have a glimpse into this Wild West world thanks to fascinating photos made by early pioneers of photography.
